Mesha Ellis, Ph.D.Mesha Ellis, Ph.D.

Background

Dr. Mesha Ellis is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist who is licensed to practice as a psychologist in California, Georgia, and Tennessee.  Dr. Ellis has conducted juvenile forensic evaluations and has provided expert testimony in Washington State and Tennessee. She has completed all continuing education requirements to conduct Child Custody Evaluations in California. She earned degrees from the University of California at Santa Barbara and Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology. She completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the The University of Alabama, including a pre-doctoral internship at The University of Chicago Hospitals. She received formal forensic training as a postdoctoral fellow in juvenile forensic psychology and adolescent inpatient treatment at The University of Washington. 

Dr. Ellis has held academic positions at Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology, Vanderbilt University, and Morehouse School of Medicine.  Dr. Ellis has conducted research evaluating antisocial and risk-taking behaviors in youth.  She has also studied familial factors that contribute to the engagement in, as well as the ramifications of, violent exchanges between peers, family members, and within the context of romantic relationships. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. She co-edited (along with Drs. Joy Asamen and Gordon Berry) The SAGE Handbook of Child Development, Multiculturalism, and Media.  Currently, Dr. Ellis maintains private practices in Torrance, California andAtlanta, Georgia. 

 

Clinical Services Provided

Dr. Ellis conducts custody evaluations, and provides individual psychotherapy to children and adults, co-parent counseling and post-separation family therapy.
