Background

Dr. Renee Lehr is a licensed clinical psychologist with 20 years experience. Her work focuses on custody and access issues and family adjustment to divorce. She specializes in forensic evaluation of custody issues, mediation, collaborative divorce, special mastering, and consultation for lawyers and their clients on a variety of issues in high-conflict divorce. She has mediated more than 4,000 custody/divorce cases and conducted numerous child custody evaluations. The psychotherapy portion of her practice provides specialized treatment for court-involved families and children, including reunification therapy.

Dr. Lehr earned her Ph.D. in Clinical psychology with an emphasis on child development. For 11 years she was a mediator with Los Angeles Superior Court, and
was an instructor in the PACT (Parents and Children Together) Program for Los Angeles Superior Court, where she educated parents about age-appropriate parenting plans, improved communication, and positive parenting and co-parenting skills. She has had advanced training in mediation, special mastering, custody evaluation, and collaborative divorce.

Dr. Lehr has been in private practice for 10 years. She is a frequent speaker for groups of lawyers, mental health professionals, and parents. She has written articles focused on pre- and post-dissolution issues and solutions. She has an interest in helping lawyers and their clients during the custody evaluation process and is currently writing and article for publication. The working title is: How To Prepare a Parent for a Child Custody Evaluation: An Ethical, Effective Approach.

Dr. Lehr, is also an attorney, and serves as a Referee for Los Angeles Superior Court.

She has conducted more than 2,000 mental health hearings for Los Angeles Superior
court, and has expertise in cases where severe mental illness is an issue.
