Personal Statement:
As well as doing Individual Psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and adults, I enjoy working with whole families. I am especially interested in working with families who are going through divorce. I believe parenting is the most important job in our society and one in which we receive the least training. Divorce complicates the parenting role even further. Yet we know that if divorced parents can work together, even minimally, in a co-parenting capacity, their children feel more secure and are less stressed through the divorce process.

I enjoy helping parents understand their children and themselves better through increased knowledge of human development, the regulation of feelings, new understanding of the brain, and how we develop the capacity for relationship. I observe, assess, and offer consultation on family relationships, issues, communication patterns, and problem solving. I work with families in finding ways to match their parenting styles with their child’s unique personality, in order to make a more successful parenting intervention and ultimately foster their relationship. This may also involve consultation with teachers and other helping professionals.
